About AGM Technology

AGM stands for Absorbed Glass Mat, which refers to the construction of the battery.

Unlike traditional flooded (wet) lead-acid batteries, such as common automotive batteries, AGM batteries hold the electrolyte within ultra-fine glass fibre mats positioned between the battery plates, rather than freely flooding the plates.

Very thin glass fibres are woven into a mat to increase surface area, allowing the battery to hold sufficient electrolyte within the cells throughout its lifetime. The fibres that form the fine glass mat do not absorb nor are they affected by the acidic electrolyte, ensuring long-term stability and performance.

AGM batteries can be installed in almost any orientation and do not require constant maintenance. However, regular cleaning and testing is still recommended to maintain optimal performance.

Cycle Life: Approx. 300 cycles at 80% depth of discharge

Although AGM batteries may not match the cycle-life performance of Gel batteries, they offer a lower initial cost while providing reliable functionality for many mobility and light-duty power applications.
